Building Friendships and Creating Peace
Unique programs for girls and boys entering grades 1-6
and youth entering grades 7-12

Jane Addams
1860-1935

Jane Addams was the first American woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She was a pioneer settlement worker,
a sociologist, author,
and a leader in the women's suffragette
and Peace movements.
Her philosophy about building a peaceful and stronger community is at the heart of this fun and enlightening camp.

  Camp activities are designed to promote:
       ■Non-Violent Communication
       ■Listening to our inner voice
       ■Appreciation of other cultures and ways of thinking
       ■Caring for the Earth
       ■Conflict Management
       ■Peace, Justice and Compassion

When: August 7-11, 2017, 9am to 3pm each day.
(Pre-camp orientation: Sunday, August 6, 2-3pm)

Location:  The marvelous outdoors of the Orchard School campus
just a few minutes off Highway 1 in Aptos, at 2288 Trout Gulch Road.

Schedule: The week includes:
     ■Small group activities by age
     ■Free choice activities
     ■Entire camp activities
     ■Lots of fun and friendship!

Staff:  Experienced counselors with training in Non-Violent Communications and skilled volunteers.

Volunteer opportunities:  Parents are welcome to participate by helping with cooking and transportation.  Artists and educators are also welcome to donate their skills and talents
by pre-arrangement.

Cost: $200 - includes snacks, lunch, camp T-shirt and group photo, and all supplies.

Financial Aid is made available for any child needing assistance to participate.
To apply, please send an email to  describing your family's economic situation.  Include how much of the $200 fee you can afford to pay.  The registrar will contact you to discuss your request.

Older Youth Program:  Teens entering grades 7-8-9 will focus on developing skills in peacemaking and social justice and explore qualities of leadership and compassion in creative and fun ways.

Teen Interns*:  This new program affords teens entering grades 10 through 12 a chance to be mentored by trained staff and assist in leading camp favorites such as Free Choice Activities and Games.  Interns will develop their leadership and NVC skills and explore their own calling towards social justice and strategies for peace within themselves and in community.  Interns serve the camp in exchange for a full scholarship.
